Dental implants in Bratislava
An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth and carries a crown that looks and works like your own tooth. Unlike a bridge, the healthy teeth next to it don't need to be ground down.
How implant treatment works
- Examination and 3D planning — we assess the bone and plan the implant position.
- The implant is placed under local anaesthetic.
- Healing: the implant fuses with the bone, usually within 2 to 6 months.
- The crown: once healed, we fix the final crown on the implant.
Who is a good candidate
Implants are possible for most adults with healthy gums and enough bone. Uncontrolled diabetes, smoking or some osteoporosis medicines call for caution — we'll talk everything through at the examination. If there isn't enough bone, we'll explain the options.
Caring for an implant
You clean an implant like your own teeth — with a brush and interdental brushes. It can't decay, but the tissue around it can become inflamed (peri-implantitis), so regular check-ups and dental hygiene matter.

Frequent questions
Does getting an implant hurt?
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you won't feel pain during it. For a few days afterwards the area may be swollen and tender — ordinary painkillers and cold compresses help.
How long does a dental implant last?
With good care and regular check-ups an implant can last for decades. The crown on it may need replacing after many years.
Implant or bridge?
A bridge needs the neighbouring teeth to be ground down to hold it. An implant replaces the tooth on its own and leaves the neighbours untouched. We'll advise which suits you at the examination.
Can I have an MRI scan with an implant?
Yes. Dental implants are usually titanium, which isn't magnetic, so they don't prevent an MRI. Just tell the radiologist you have one.
Does smoking affect implants?
Yes. Smoking slows healing and raises the risk that the implant won't integrate or that the tissue around it becomes inflamed later. We recommend cutting down before and after the procedure.
How much does a dental implant cost?
You'll find the indicative price of the implant and crown below and in the price list. You'll get the exact amount for your case in writing after the examination.
