Crowns, bridges and dentures
If a tooth is too damaged for a filling, or some teeth are missing, we replace them with a crown, a bridge or a removable denture. We choose the right solution together after the examination.
Zirconia crown
A crown covers the whole tooth and protects it from breaking — typically after root canal treatment or a large filling. Zirconia is strong, metal-free and can be matched to the colour of your other teeth. While the final crown is being made, a temporary one protects the tooth.
Bridge
A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth and is fixed to the neighbouring teeth, which have to be ground down. A dental implant is the alternative that needs no grinding.
Removable denture
When several teeth are missing, a partial or full removable denture is the answer. Most people get used to a new denture within a few weeks; we adjust it as needed in the meantime.
How it works
- Examination, X-ray, and a plan with the price.
- Preparing the tooth and taking an impression.
- A temporary replacement while the final one is made.
- Fitting and checking your bite.
Usually 2 to 3 visits.
Frequent questions
How long does a zirconia crown last?
With good care, usually 10 to 15 years or more. What matters is the health of the tooth and gum underneath, so don't skip check-ups and hygiene.
Zirconia or ceramic crown?
Zirconia is one of the strongest ceramic materials, so it also holds up on back teeth. For front teeth appearance matters most — we'll recommend the material at the examination.
Can a dead tooth have a crown?
Yes, and it's often the best option. A tooth after root canal treatment is more brittle, and a crown protects it from breaking.
What if my crown falls out?
Keep the crown and call us. If it's intact and the tooth underneath isn't damaged, we can often re-cement it. Until then, don't bite on that side.
Should I take my denture out at night?
Yes, it's recommended — it lets your gums rest. Store it cleaned, in a glass of water or a cleaning solution as directed.
How long does a crown take?
Usually 2 to 3 visits; you wear a temporary crown in between.
